Message From Our Presidents

A Conservative-Egalitarian Synagogue

Had enough snow already for this winter? Hopefully the spring-like weather of the last few weeks of January will get us through February. CNT events are also a great way to get through the winter. The Jewish Comedy Night was a big success and the upcoming 60’s Party, February 18th, should also be a great opportunity for all of us to get together and have some fun. On Friday night, February 10th, Sisterhood Shabbat will take place. Also, coming soon will be a Men’s Club Book Review, Balancing Life Presentation by Ray Blume and Men’s Club Shabbat. Don’t forget our Purim celebration in March.
Friday night, February 3rd we will be hosting Shabbat Services at the United Methodist Home in Collingswood, NJ. On Friday night, January 27th, CNT has been invited to Shabbat services at Congregation Beth Tikvah (CBT) in Marlton, NJ. Please make every effort to support these events and our services so CNT can grow going forward. Our building has been listed with Rose Commercial Real Estate. The Relocation Committee has 2 groups researching the two future options that are currently available to CNT. Rabbi Domosh working with one group has scheduled several Friday night Shabbat services in Collingswood and is also planning a Tu B’Shevat Seder in Collingswood. The Rabbi has also met with a group of interested Collingswood residents and members of his group to plan additional events. The other group led by Elliot and myself has met with CBT about a possible merger and celebrated a joint Friday night Shabbat service together at CBT. These events plus two years of Board discussions form the basis for determining which of the two options makes the most sense for CNT.

A Congregational Meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, February 19th with short presentations of both the merger and relocation options. These presentations will be followed by questions and discussions by the Congregation. A second Congregational Meeting had been scheduled for Sunday, March 12th at which time a vote on these two options will be taken. Your participation in these meetings and voting is the best way to show your support for CNT.
Please remember to pay your 2016-17 membership dues and pledges ASAP, if you have not done so yet. Consider celebrating your family life events or recognizing individuals by sponsoring a Kiddish as per Neil’s recent email. Buy scrip to help support CNT.
